A different category of threat: using a REAL rabbi's face and voice without permission. This is not a fabricated persona -- it is identity theft.
Deepfake Identity Theft + Suspected Missionary Operation
This is NOT the same as the Goldman grift. The AI rabbi accounts (@rabbigoldman etc.) use entirely fabricated personas. Revayah is different and more dangerous: it steals the face, voice, and likeness of a real, living rabbi -- Rabbi Manis Friedman, a renowned Chabad lecturer and TLC creator -- and uses that deepfake in paid advertising without his permission. The Friedman family has raised concerns it may be a missionary conversion operation disguised as a Jewish learning platform.
Paid advertising angle: Unlike the Goldman accounts which grew organically through algorithmic amplification, Revayah is spending money on Meta ads to push content. Low organic reach (180K views, 2.6K likes across 19 reels) but dozens of active paid ads targeting Jewish audiences. This is a funded operation, not a viral growth hack. View Meta Ads Library
TLC Creator impact: Rabbi Manis Friedman is a TLC creator. His son Rabbi Zalman Friedman (who directs "It's Good To Know") told COLlive: "We worked very hard to build up Rabbi Friedman's reputation" and expressed concern that the organization "may not be Jewish at all, and in fact missionaries disguising as Jewish teachers."
